Apollo is the God of the Sun and bastard son of Zeus. He is also a member of the Pantheon who resides on Olympus. He is a recurring character in Blood of Zeus.
History[]
Backstory[]
Apollo is the son of Zeus, the King of the Gods, and Leto, a goddess. He is the twin brother of Artemis, the goddess of the moon. Artemis was born on the island of Delos, where her mother, Leto, took refuge to give birth after being pursued by Hera, Zeus' wife. Artemis was born first and then helped her mother deliver Apollo shortly after.
Throughout the Series[]
Season 1[]
A Call to Arms[]
Apollo is seen fighting alongside the gods during the Gigantanomachy.
Past is Prologue[]
When Hera notices Zeus during one of his affairs with a mortal woman, Apollo takes action and appears before Zeus through a mirror to warn him that Hera is watching. While Zeus returns to Olympus, Apollo takes his father's place and introduces himself to Electra.
The Raid[]
In an arena, Apollo and Hermes face Ares. Ares breaks Apollo's chariot and manages to catch the speeding Hermes. But then Zeus arrives angry and asks Ares what he had told Hera, as only he knows where he is. However, Hera also arrives, stating she already knew it all.
Ares is then up against Apollo, who is riding on his chariot. Ares narrowly misses Apollo's blade as it scrapes the front of his helmet and bends backward just in time. Ares swiftly slams his hammer hard enough on the ground to cause Apollo to lose balance and fall off the chariot.
Apollo recovers and promptly clashes weapons with Ares, only to be caught off guard once again by Hermes, who begins to use his super-speed to circle Ares. Ares catches Hermes by the necklace and throws him into Apollo, sending them flying across the arena.
Ares is soon struck by lightning, signaling the arrival of his father, Zeus. Zeus is upset and asks Ares about what he told his mother, Hera. Ares doesn't have a chance to tell Zeus about what he told Hera and Zeus's whereabouts because Hera shows up anyway to confront Zeus herself. Ares joins Apollo and Hermes as the two have it out before them.
Later, Apollo is seen alongside the Olympian gods against Zeus, with Hera claiming that Zeus had crossed the line by directly interfering in mortal lives.
Escape or Die[]
Apollo is awakened, along with Hyacinth and a goddess, by Zeus's thunder to stop the fight between Seraphim and Heron.
Back to Olympus[]
Zeus brings Heron to Olympus to want peace with Hera; Artemis, Apollo, and Hermes greet Heron, happy to meet his half-brother, but Hera disapproves of this attitude.
The Fields of the Dead[]
Apollo sees Ares and Hermes fighting and distracts Ares so that the injured Hermes can escape. Ares manages to catch up with Apollo in his chariot; Apollo is beaten and then thrown into the sea.
War for Olympus[]
Apollo is rescued by his uncle Poseidon and is brought to Olympus, where he and his partners prepare for war against Hera. Apollo delivers a bow with arrows made by Hephaestus to Heron. During the war, Apollo is seen fighting bravely in his chariot, slaughtering countless demons, but he and other gods are sucked into the wings of giants. After the war's end and Zeus's sacrifice, Apollo recovers and is seen alongside his brothers Hephaestus and Hermes, telling Heron that Zeus was very proud of Heron.
Season 2[]
In Winter is Born, Hephaestus and Heron join Apollo as they see the visitors either confirm Zeus' death or say their goodbyes. He and Hephaestus then discuss their father and how they'll honor his legacy on Earth. Apollo then notes the fragility of the alliances on Olympus and directs his attention to Poseidon, who stands perched above a high area, looking down on them. It's then that Apollo wonders where Hades was.
In Funeral Games, Apollo demands that Hera leave when she interrupts the match between Heron and Ares. He'd later be seen attending Zeus' funeral.
In "The Three Trials," Apollo finds Hermes unconscious on a beach. As he approaches his brother, Hermes wakes up, and Apollo takes him to his chariot. Hermes believed that their situation was because of Hera, but little did they know that it was Demeter's doing.
The topic would be discussed back on Olympus with Athena, who alluded that it was Demeter's fault, not Hera's. Now accompanied by Hestia, they would confront Persephone about where her mother was.
Afterward, Apollo participates in the battle for the Eleusinian Stone, where in the end, Gaia speaks Typhon's name because the Gods couldn't learn to forgive.
Season 3[]
In A Breath Before Dying, he joins Athena and Artemis in attacking Typhon and is later rescued by Hermes.
In The Head of the Maenads, Apollo informs Athena that the Titans are going after Hecate, which is being spear headed by Kronos.
Physical Appearance[]
Apollo has long blonde hair, bronze-tanned skin, golden eyes like the sun, and eyelashes that are the color of his hair. Like many of the male gods, he is tall and muscular. He usually wears his normal outfit, but otherwise, he is in battle with his armor. His outfit includes a long white cape held together by his golden accessory, and a two-part reddish-orange gladiator skirt with golden prints that start from the bottom. When in battle, he utilizes his golden chariot and wears a golden helmet created by Hephaestus.
Personality[]
Being Zeus's son, who was born out of wedlock, he takes more of his father's side and covers for him when Zeus goes out and visits Electra. Knowing Hera's profound jealousy towards Zeus's mistresses, he warns Zeus when Hera is watching him during one of his visits.
After the civil war, he is seen along with his brothers, Hermes and Hephaestus, waiting for Heron to awake and give him his mother's ornament, seemingly making Heron contented. In Season 2, Apollo is shown to be hotheaded. When Hera returns to Olympus, Apollo greets his stepmother in hostility. This is unsurprising, given that Hera started a civil war and never got along with Apollo.

Hera[]
Apollo and Hera harbor a mutual hatred for one another. Hera attempted Leto's life. Apollo never forgave his stepmother for this. When Hera returns to Olympus to pay her respects to Zeus, Apollo is initially reluctant to grant his stepmother's request even though Hera promises to spend the next millennium in exile. Hera also reminded Apollo that killing her would not undo the damage she had done, nor would it make anything better.

When Demeter's spores infected Apollo, he initially suspected Hera to be at fault for his illness.
Leto[]

Little is known about Apollo's relationship with his mother. However, it can be assumed that Apollo loved Leto dearly as he never spoke ill of her and resents Hera for her attempt on Leto's life.
