The Demons, also called People of Melidoni or daemons,[1] were derived from eating the flesh of the Giants. They were known for being a profoundly immoral and wicked species. They were led by the first demon Seraphim and allied with the Giants and Hera's faction of gods.
History[]
After the Gigantomachy, a terrible squall rustled the ocean floor, casting a dead giant ashore, and as the fates would have it, one of these dark vessels was discovered by Seraphim. Though he did not know it, this evil began poisoning him, for even touching a giant means feeling the abyss. Feasting on the giant's flesh, Seraphim was transformed into a monstrous creature. Others were drawn to him, either willingly or by force. These men ceased to pay tribute to the gods. Instead, they pledged their allegiance to the giants, and soon, they began eating one of the giants as well. Through this black commune, a new family of darkness arose. They became demons. Evil and wicked creatures hidden beneath a human veneer.
Throughout the Series[]
Powers and Abilities[]
- Enhanced Strength: Demons wielded strength greater than the average human.
- Enhanced Speed: Demons were much faster than the average human.
- Enhanced Durability: Demons appeared to be much more durable than ordinary humans. Apparently, certain parts of the demons' bodies are armored, while other parts are more normal and vulnerable.[1]
- Accelerated Healing: Demons appeared to heal from cuts and injuries to the body much faster than an average human.
- Claws: Demons had claws which they could use to rend through human flesh with relative ease.
- Limited Shapeshifting: Some demons could return to their human forms at will.
Weaknesses[]
- Serious Bodily Harm: Sufficient damage to a Demon's body can potentially kill it.
- Beheading: Demons, although possessing durability and regenerative capabilities, can be immediately subdued by being beheaded.
- Extreme Heat: Demons appear vulnerable to extreme heat sources. Alexia created a technique to expose a demon by burning their flesh to unveil their true form. Fire also seemed to be useful in combating them, as seen with Evios and Kofi and Apollo, respectively.
- Giants: According to Chiron, the giants remained the source of the demon's powers, and if they were destroyed, the demons they spawned would die.
