The Fields of the Dead is the seventh episode of the Blood of Zeus series.
Synopsis[]
Seraphim's loyalties are tested when Zeus reveals Hera's deceptions. Alexia's company crosses the Fields of the Dead. War breaks out between the gods.
Summary[]
Zeus takes a bath, and Seraphim, using Hera's help, comes in and manages to behead him. As things start to blur, Seraphim realizes it's a dream as Zeus removes the Oneiri from him. Zeus explains that the dreams of Oneiri can't be trusted, and neither can the goddess that sent them. Zeus comments that Hera has filled his head with lies, as he blames him for everything, which is only half-truth. He thought Seraphim would indeed be better at the palace but underestimated his uncle's greed. Zeus reveals that it was he who made the bear share her milk and that he was the bear who attacked and killed Acrisius's sons. Zeus also reveals that it's not his fault for killing Electra as Hera led him to her as she hated her and loved the idea of Electra being killed by her own son. Seraphim wonders why he would trust Zeus, and Zeus explains that, unlike Hera, he will offer the revenge he seeks for free and gives him a coin, stating he can find his vengeance there.
Reaching the Fields of the Dead, Chiron explains that it's there that the gods fought the giants. They need to cross it, but they shouldn't rush and never turn around, as it will cost them their lives. Before they go, Alexia tells Chiron to return to his people as he has done enough, and they must protect his knowledge. Going into the mist, they start to see things, and one of the men turns around but turns to stone. Alexia sees her parents, but knowing it's not real, she manages not to turn. Going through the mist, they face a satyr, but Heron arrives and kills it with an arrow.
Seraphim finds the mountain from the coin and sees a cave, where he finds Acrisius. Acrisius comments he saw an opportunity and took it, stating that Seraphim would do the same, but Seraphim explains he won't kill a child, making Acrisius state that's why he is weak. Seraphim then cuts his fingers, leg, and eye, and as he stabs Acrisius, he punches him until he smashes him to pieces.
Alexia and the rest reach the labyrinth and navigate it. They reach the location with the giant remains, but they are gone. Seraphim shows up with demons, and Heron realizes they have moved the remains. Seraphim asks Heron to join him and get their vengeance on the gods as they are the reason for all of this and that their mother is dead. Heron tells him that Zeus can turn him into a human again, but Seraphim tells him to choose whether he is with or against him. Heron chooses not to join him, and they start a fight with the demons. Most perish in the fight, with only Heron, Alexia, Kofi, and Evios managing to escape and run away with the griffon. They head towards Olympus, and Hera orders Seraphim to do what she says. She notices that Hermes is following her and attacking him, making him visible, and then Ares strikes him. Hera takes his bracer, and before Ares can kill Hermes, Apollo arrives and saves him, allowing Hermes to escape. Apollo then falls to Ares, who throws his body into the sea.
Seraphim finds the Cauldron of Darkness, and as he takes it, Talos activates and starts attacking him. Using the sword, he defeats Talos and escapes with the Cauldron of Darkness. Hera then uses Hermes bracer on the Cauldron and releases the giants' souls, who return to the giants and awaken. Hermes goes to Zeus, informing him he has an urgent message from Hera; as Zeus wonders what it is, Hermes stabs Zeus in the neck, and the real Hermes arrives, pushing the fakeaway, who turns into Hera and then to a crow and runs. While Zeus is dying, the giants emerge from the sea and head towards the land.
